Stage@Leeds Theatre Writing Opportunity

‘stage@leeds’, the University of Leeds’s professional theatre venue, is searching for a talented early career writer to collaborate with the stage@leeds Artistic Director. Together, you’ll write a new script for their Young Company, drawing inspiration from the pioneering work of John Smeaton (the UK’s father of civil engineering from Leeds) and the epic tale of William Shakespeare’s Tempest.

The completed script will be performed by a cast of young people aged 11-16 years on Saturday 10th August. This performance will mark the opening of stage@leeds’ brand-new outdoor venue, ‘The Green.’ The chosen writer will work closely with the Artistic Director. You will have at least two face-to-face meetings and regular online check-ins to keep things rolling. The project will be led by the Artistic Director, with full support provided to the successful candidate. The successful applicant will receive a £1000 writing fee.
